Don Donneruno

Don Donneruno is the founder and owner of The Cake Don, a Huntington, Long Island-based custom cake and cupcake shop known for its artistic creations, bold branding, and unforgettable customer experience.

 

A lifelong artist, musician, and graffiti painter, Don never set out to become a baker—his goal was simply to make a living through creativity. After teaching himself cake decorating, working entry-level in a bakery to learn the business, and appearing on TLC's Next Great Baker with Buddy Valastro, he took a leap of faith and opened The Cake Don in 2014.

 

Today, his business has become a destination for custom cakes, gourmet cupcakes, and original artwork, with a vision of expanding the brand while keeping creativity at its core.

 

At the heart of Don's philosophy is the belief that authenticity, relentless persistence, and genuine human connection always outperform shortcuts. He champions learning from mentors, embracing failure as part of growth, and creating memorable customer experiences through thoughtful details—like handwritten notes with every order.

 

Rather than chasing trends or superficial success, Don believes in telling the real story behind the work, building relationships with integrity, and trusting that consistent effort, creativity, and kindness create opportunities over time.
